Hard graft, big hearts and teamwork - Middlesex CCC are Champions after 23 Years.

So proud to see Middlesex CCC achieve the ultimate success in winning the County Championship on Friday. After 23 long years, they finally lifted the coveted trophy at the home of cricket - Lords. It's extra special for the author of DETOX YOUR EGO, Steven as he grew up not only a fan of the Middlesex CCC but he also became a professional player for them in the early 90's and played with Angus Fraser who is now the Managing Director of the Club. As a child he'd always dreamt of running out across the hallowed turf of Lord's. It was a dream that eventually came true and he speaks fondly of that time playing with and against his cricketing hero's in the book. On Friday, Steven had the opportunity to be a part of the Club's fantastic achievement, something he'd have loved to have done as a player but instead has the honour and privilege in supporting them on their remarkable journey. In his role as the Team Psychologist, he combines both his professional cricket experience with his psychological understanding to ensure that there was a greater emphasis on the team being "together" especially under the most pressurised moments throughout the year long campaign. This went from formal meetings with the CEO and MD of cricket to informal chats with players and key support staff. The ability to have continuous contact time with players and coaches is a key element of his unique delivery style. This approach enabled him to be ready for potential issues arising before and during games, while also being in a position to prevent both individual and team derailment. Although, at times, this was exhausting work, the pleasure of seeing so many young players, management, coaches and support staff be in total alignment regarding the Club's way of working was rewarding for all.
